All doctors should declare drug company payments: GSK

Greater transparency is needed in the relationship between drug companies and the medical profession, according to pharma company GSK, as it considers the public disclosure of payments to individual doctors.    

Following its own survey (link), GSK says financial arrangements between drug companies and doctors need to be declared openly, after it found two out of three Australians thought the payment of fees to healthcare professionals were acceptable, as long as the fees were made public.

And GSK’s Healthcare Environment Director, David Herd told 6minutes he believed the “next step and the right step” would be for Australia to follow in America’s footsteps with the naming of individual doctors who receive sponsorship or payments from drug...
