Two non-antibiotic drugs could be the answer to antibiotic resistance

Reducing the use of antibiotics will not be enough to reverse the growing prevalence of antibiotic resistance, scientists say.

That’s because bacteria are able to quickly share the ability to fight antibiotics by swapping genes between species and then maintaining their resistance even in the absence of antibiotics.
