Why GPs should ask patients how much they sleep

Questions about daytime naps may help identify those at high risk of heart disease, researchers say

Getting too much sleep may increase the risk of heart disease, a new study suggests.

The research, published in the European Heart Journal, examines data on 116,000 people aged between 35 and 70 from 21 different countries.

After an average follow-up period of almost eight years, researchers recorded 4381 deaths and 4365 "major cardiovascular events".
