2.5m tapeworm found in child

Surgeons have removed a giant 2.5m tapeworm — Diphyllobothrium latum — from an eight-year old girl in Taiwan.

They believe she contracted the parasite from eating contaminated sushi.

Dr Wang Zhijian, a paediatrician from the Tri-Service General Hospital, told Apple Daily that the child had probably been infected for about a month.
