The long-awaited announcement of the first male contraceptive pill, patch, gel or injectable is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

While the first female birth control pill entered the market more than 50 years ago, followed by other appealing and not so appealing options, big pharma is hardly racing to produce a male equivalent.
